Gilfillan Farm

South Hills Interfaith Movement's (SHIM) has been committed to feeding, clothing, and providing services to people in the southern suburban areas of Pittsburgh since 1968.

Sensory Garden

The Sensory Garden is the newest addition to the Alexander Gilfillan collection of gardens. It's an immersive experience that engages visitors via sight, smell, and touch.

Flower Garden

From Zinnias to Cosmos to Sunflowers, the volunteers at Gilfillan Farm have spent years establishing a beautiful flower garden that is full of color, fragrance, butterflies and pollinators.

Imagine a garden of scarecrows! A designated area of the gardens have been designated for display of the scarecrows. Learn more about the inspirations behind these works of art.

Beekeeping has become an important part of Gilfillan Farm's garden ecosystem. The bees are kept on the property and tended to, so that they pollinate all the vegetables, flowers, and fruit trees.

The Orchard

The original orchard at Gilfillan Farm is now apart of Gilfillan Park, owned by the Township of Upper St. Clair. A new orchard was planted in 2015 on the remaining Gilfillan Farm property.

Horses with Hope

Horses with Hope is an organization that has partnered with Gilfillan Farm to help realize Margaret Gilfillan's vision for the property that she left to the Historical Society of Upper St. Clair.

The daffodils are plentiful at the Gilfillan Farm. The volunteers tend to the daffodils every year in an effort to preserve Margaret's living memory of her brother John.
